COVID-19 Health & Safety Policy & Response Plan
Updated January 2022
Locomotion Music is committed to the safety of our students, families and teachers. With consultation from parents, students, teachers and Public Health guidelines, we have developed this Covid-19 Health & Safety Policy for all Locomotion students, teachers and family members in one home. If a teacher or student agree to continue with in home lessons, they must read and agree to adhere to the Locomotion policies outlined below.
Music Lesson Updates
- Online music lessons will be offered indefinitely at Locomotion Music.
- Teachers and students will have the option of doing in home or online lessons and can change options at any time.
- Students have the option of working with a Locomotion teacher that is fully vaccinated ( 2 doses of an approved vaccine). Please speak to the management team to discuss
this option. - If an in home lesson is cancelled, teachers and students can complete their make-up lesson online at a mutually agreed day & time.
- Scheduling and teacher changes may occur on a case by case basis.
Covid-19 Health & Safety Policy
- Locomotion Music will provide teachers and students with updates regarding Covid-19
as they become available from Ontario Public Health officials. - Locomotion Music may transition back to online lessons or make other business related changes, as the Covid-19 situation evolves.
- Both teacher and students (parent/guardian) are asked to let Locomotion know of recent or upcoming travel outside of the country. Students and teachers must self-isolate upon return as per Public Health guidelines if you don’t qualify for the traveler quarantine exemption. Music lessons can continue online on a mutually agreed day and time if you need to quarantine.
During Your In Home Lessons
- Teachers and students will self-monitor & screen for symptoms before each lesson.
Should anyone present any of the Covid19 symptoms before their lesson, an online
lesson can be performed in lieu of the in home lesson, at a mutually agreed day & time. - Teachers will have hand sanitizer on them at all times.
- The student and teacher will use hand sanitizer (or wash their hands) before and after
each lesson. - The teacher and student must wear a mask for the entirety of their lesson in order to
protect one another as per Public Health masking guidelines, even if the teacher AND
student are fully vaccinated. We will update this guideline, should it change in the future. - Should another family member in the home have contact with the teacher or student
during their stay in the home, a safe social distancing should be practiced in addition to
wearing a mask for the period of the interaction. - The teacher and student will social distance during a lesson where possible, i.e. sit in a
larger room in the house 6 feet apart, conduct lessons outside if weather permits. - Instruments and support items (books, stands, drumsticks, etc.) must be wiped down
before and after each lesson. - Teachers will remove their shoes at the door.
- Teachers will not bring any additional (unrelated) items with them into student homes
(large bags, food or shopping bags). They may have a drink with them. - Teachers will limit their time in the house after the lesson when debriefing the student,
parent/guardian. Texting or emailing any homework or follow/up details is encouraged.
